Role Overview

Ready to make your mark on the way our customers interact with our products? We're on a mission to build a world-class customer API gateway. This is your opportunity to lead the design, development, and evolution of this critical integration layer. You're passionate about APIs, gateways, and understand the power of seamless connectivity to enhance user experience.

Tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, REST API's, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, GCP.

Responsibilities🤘

• Take a hands-on role in the development and implementation of our API gateway, working with guidance from the Senior Backend Engineer.

• Develop well-structured and maintainable REST APIs using Java, Spring Boot adhering to established best practices.

• Configure and customise Apigee (or similar) API gateway by applying policies, security measures, and traffic management strategies.

• Work closely with product teams, other engineers, and the Principal Backend Engineer to implement API requirements and integrations.

• Contribute to clear API documentation under the guidance of the senior engineer.
  

What are we looking for? 🔎

• Demonstrated experience in building backend systems with Java/Spring Boot (4 years+).

• Working knowledge of Apigee or comparable API gateway platforms and their core functions.

• Good grasp of REST API design concepts.

• Ability to create and maintain comprehensive API documentation (OpenAPI) and other technical documentation.

• Passionate about growing your skills in API design, gateway technologies, and architectural thinking.

• Knowledge of web authentication and authorisation standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect)

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and remain calm in critical situations.

Bonus Points

• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI)

• Interest in learning other technologies, such as Golang.
