Hiring at Benifex
This page walks you through our recruitment process and shares practical guidance to help you succeed at every stage.
How we hire
Applying for a new role is a big step, and our goal is to make the experience as clear, transparent and human as possible. Here, you’ll learn how our recruitment process works, what we value in candidates and how to prepare so you can navigate the process with confidence and decide whether Benifex is the right place for you 💚.
Hiring, with people in mind
-
🌱 Fair & human hiring
We believe recruitment should be fair, structured and grounded in real-world behaviours. We focus on skills, experience and potential.
Our goal is to create equal conditions for every candidate and assess everyone against the same criteria.
-
💬 Interviews as conversations
We see interviews as conversations, not interrogations. You’ll have the space to explain your thinking, reflect on your experiences and ask questions along the way.
We don’t expect instant answers so take your time and give thoughtful responses.
-
🤝 What you can expect from us
Throughout the recruitment process, you can expect clear communication, structured interviews and transparency at every stage. You’ll have opportunities to ask questions, receive honest answers and get feedback whenever possible.
While processes may vary by role or location, consistency and fairness are always our foundation.
Our typical recruitment journey
Apply online
Highlight your most relevant skills and experience and attach your CV or link your LinkedIn profile.
Initial screening
The responsible recruiter reviews your application and CV to assess alignment with the role requirements.
Recruiter interview
A digital interview (typically 30 minutes) with a recruiter. We discuss your experience, motivation, the practical details and answer any of your questions.
Online tests
Some roles include two online assessments (numerical and verbal). These help us understand your potential in an objective and consistent way.
Hiring manager interview
A deeper interview (usually 30-60 minutes) with the hiring manager and often another team member. This is a chance to explore the role, team collaboration and day-to-day responsibilities.
Final interview
A conversation with a senior internal stakeholder, focusing on our values and the behaviours we want to see reflected in our workplace.
Offer 🎉
If everything is aligned, we’ll present an offer and walk you through the details while preparing you for your new role at Benifex.
How to prepare for you interview
-
Understand the role & Benifex
Before your interview, take time to explore both the role and our company.
Ask yourself:
- What motivates you about this role?
- Why Benifex?
Ahead of every interview, we share an Information Pack (PDF) that includes:
- Company insights
- Role context and expectations
- What we’re looking for
- Our benefits offering
- An overview of the recruitment process
Reviewing this material will help you feel prepared and confident going into the conversation.
-
Prepare concrete examples
We conduct competency-based interviews which focus on what you’ve done in real situations. Rather than discussing personal traits, we explore past behaviours that are relevant to success in the role.
Prepare by identifying situations where you’ve demonstrated the behaviours described in the job ad.
- Examples from work are preferred
- If you’re early in your career, examples from studies, group projects, volunteering or associations are absolutely fine
If you don’t have a perfect example, don’t worry. Something concrete is always better than nothing.
If a question surprises you, it’s completely fine to pause and think. We value thoughtful answers over fast ones.
-
Structure your answers clearly
To keep interviews fair and consistent, many of our questions are designed to be answered using a clear structure. A good way to answer these is using the STAR method to help guide the conversation:
- Situation: Set the context
- Task: Describe your responsibility or challenge
- Action: Explain what you did
- Result: Share the outcome or learning
We may ask follow-up questions to help you clarify something you've said. When assessing responses, we focus on:
- Clear structure and reasoning
- Relevant and specific examples
- Engagement, ownership and motivation
- Honesty about challenges and learnings
-
Remember, interviews are a two-way conversation. Preparing questions shows us you're engaged and helps you evaluate whether the role, team and company are right for you.
